Nadie se hubiera imaginado todo lo que cambiaría en el 2020: tan solo en los últimos meses ha habido una mayor transformación digital que en los últimos 10 años. Pero entonces, ¿qué significa esto para el 2021? ¿Las tecnologías como la inteligencia artificial y el análisis de datos seguirán dominando o veremos que las tecnologías más nuevas y previamente emergentes tomarán la iniciativa? Solo el tiempo lo dirá, pero aquí están diez predicciones principales de transformación digital para 2021.

5G finalmente se generaliza

Hoy en día, las empresas no pueden permitirse el lujo de estar desconectadas y las implementaciones de 5G se han convertido en una parte vital de la solución. A medida que continuamos trabajando y administrando la escuela desde nuestros hogares, el valor de 5G se volverá cada vez más común en 2021. La computación cuántica ha estado a la vanguardia de los esfuerzos pandémicos para controlar la propagación de la enfermedad, así como el desarrollo de terapias y posibles vacunas. Las empresas se encuentran en un momento decisivo en su camino para recuperarse de la pandemia de COVID-19. Los presupuestos son ajustados, pero es necesaria una inversión en transformación digital. Las empresas siguen enfrentando los desafíos de esta crisis, con la habilitación del trabajo en forma remota, cambiando su modelo comercial para superar la interrupción de la cadena de suministro o adoptando una nueva plataforma digital.

Las empresas ven cada vez más la ciberseguridad como no negociable y fundamental para la transformación digital.

Aquí te dejamos cuatro actividades primordiales para la adopción de nuevas tecnologías:

1. Generar confianza interna:

La integración de la función de seguridad en el negocio también creará un ambiente de confianza internamente. Para lograr el éxito, los ejecutivos deben:

Combinar las estrategias comerciales y de seguridad. Especialmente cuando las nuevas tecnologías se adoptan estratégicamente en respuesta al COVID.
Los CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) deben formar parte desde el inicio de nuevos esfuerzos tecnológicos, en lugar de cuando ya estén en marcha.

2. Generar confianza en los consumidores

Debido a que la pandemia ha cambiado diferentes aspectos del trabajo y la vida en línea, los consumidores esperan cada vez más un énfasis adicional en la ciberseguridad y el uso responsable de datos. Las empresas deberán demostrar que sus inversiones en infraestructura de ciberseguridad, almacenamiento y recopilación de datos podrán satisfacer esta creciente demanda de los consumidores.

Aunado a lo anterior, las empresas deben mostrar cómo no sólo cumplieron, sino que superaron el mínimo requerido por los reguladores para ganarse la confianza del consumidor. La única forma de hacer que todo esto suceda es integrar las protecciones de seguridad en todos los aspectos del negocio.

3. Generar confianza con los reguladores:

Para tener una buena ciberseguridad, se debe llevar un cumplimiento, debido a que los reguladores exigen cada vez más transparencia y proactividad. Los CISO deben trabajar con los equipos de comunicaciones públicas y legales desde el principio y con frecuencia para ayudar a construir la narrativa para los reguladores sobre cómo sus métodos de recopilación y almacenamiento de datos van más allá de las expectativas para proteger la privacidad de los consumidores y empleados.

4. Desarrollar resiliencia para la próxima crisis

Antes, los equipos de seguridad no se incluían para los proyectos de transformación digital, lo que dejó tanto a los equipos como a sus empresas mal preparadas para el cambio operativo masivo que trajo el COVID-19. A medida que las empresas continúan acelerándose hacia la nube para facilitar las fuerzas de trabajo remotas y proporcionar agilidad y escalabilidad rápidamente, los equipos de seguridad deberán trabajar el doble de tiempo y en conjunto con los equipos de sus organizaciones para ponerse al día, actuando primero como mitigadores de riesgos para una rápida transformación digital y eventualmente convirtiéndose en habilitadores comerciales cuyo impacto se sentirá mucho después de que haya pasado el COVID-19.

Por lo tanto, las empresas que se comprometan con capacidades de ciberseguridad sólidas e integradas lograrán diferenciarse por completo de la competencia, logrando posicionarse como organizaciones más seguras y confiables que sus competidores. Pero lo más importante es que un fuerte compromiso con la ciberseguridad permitirá a las empresas emerger más fuertes y mejor preparadas para manejar futuras interrupciones a gran escala.

En la Marina, el mantenimiento y rendimiento de los barcos es fundamental. Hoy en día, existe un margen de mejora y un plan para impulsar el mantenimiento de los barcos a través de la tecnología.De 2015 a 2019, la Marina gastó $2.8 mil millones en inversiones de capital para abordar el desempeño de sus barcos y el 75 por ciento de los períodos de mantenimiento planeados para portaaviones y submarinos se terminaron a destiempo.

Actualmente, la Marina está utilizando drones e inteligencia artificial para inspeccionar y analizar barcos para detectar y predecir problemas como la oxidación. Google Cloud es la plataforma utilizada en el proyecto, debido a que Google "proporcionará la plataforma en la nube subyacente y el almacenamiento de datos para las miles de imágenes de barcos que se utilizan para desarrollar un modelo de aprendizaje automático", informa FedScoop. El proyecto también utilizará drones y tecnología de análisis de imágenes automatizado.

Uno de los objetivos es ahorrar dinero a través de un mantenimiento de barcos más automatizado, con la utilización de drones, los cuales inspeccionarán los barcos y luego las herramientas de inteligencia artificial usarán las imágenes que capturan para identificar las necesidades de mantenimiento, especialmente las áreas de óxido y corrosión, para ayudar a los ingenieros a priorizar qué reparaciones deben realizarse primero. Estas tecnologías también ayudarán en los tiempos, pues pueden reducir la cantidad de tiempo que un barco necesita para permanecer en un astillero para reparaciones.

El objetivo general del programa es ayudar a la Marina a reducir los costos laborales y materiales de las inspecciones y hacer que las reparaciones de los barcos sean más eficientes. Google proporcionará a la Marina su conjunto de productos Cloud AutoML, que automatiza el aprendizaje automático y proporciona a los desarrolladores de software con experiencia limitada las herramientas que necesitan para crear modelos de aprendizaje automático. Por otro lado, Google ofrece un alto nivel de protección para las imágenes almacenadas en su nube de forma predeterminada, por lo que el tema de seguridad y privacidad no es un problema.

El mantenimiento predictivo que aprovecha la nube es de gran interés en todo el Departamento de Defensa, lo que conlleva a que en un futuro veamos má automatización de procesos en diferentes campos.
